Thomas Kinkade Paintings

Thomas Kinkade is perhaps one the most collected American Artists of his generation.  His incandescent artwork of pastels and lighting textures has set him apart from other artists of similar style.  Paintings by Thomas Kinkade are enormously popular with consumers.

The 10th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500

Of his most recent works, the series of Thomas Kinkade Paintings devoted to the Indianapolis 500 are some of the most popular of American art buyers.  These colorful and highly detailed portraits cover various periods over the past century and are full of interesting little surprises if you look closely enough.

In the usual flair of other works by Thomas Kinkade, his mastery of light and illumination are demonstrated with backgrounds of sunlight beaming through white, puffy clouds shining down on glistening automobiles and bandstands packed with spectators.

The Hidden Gems Within

In these paintings by Thomas Kinkade, you will find interesting little details and hidden gems.  The images are so highly detailed, showing thousands of individual spectators in the bleachers, that you very often see something new every time you look at it.  He cleverly placed automobiles from several different eras into the same image while also including the magnificent and renowned Pagoda which is a “must” for any significant illustration of this famous race.

In fact, Thomas Kinkade got very creative when crafting the individual fans watching the race from the sidelines.  If you look closely, you will find Dale Earnhardt cheering along with the rest of the fans.  He even included an homage to his favorite artist whom he admired as a child, Norman Rockwell, by including his image as well.

Thomas Kinkade Paintings Make History

By incorporating so many diverse elements into these wonderful paintings, from the Indianapolis skyline to the historically significant Brickyard, Thomas Kinkade set out to create a little piece of American History.  His portraits were used as the covers for the Indianapolis 500 Media Guide as well as for the 2009 Indianapolis 500 Official Program.

Regardless of your personal opinion about paintings by Thomas Kinkade, one cannot deny that his works have sold millions, which is a rare fete for any living artist.  He had a unique ability to foresee what the public wanted and then was able to deliver.  His recent death in April of 2012 has only solidified his reputation as a leading American artist in the line of his admired Norman Rockwell.
